Looking north up Yonge St, from south of Wellesley St, in the Bay-Cloverhill and Church-Wellesley neighbourhoods of Toronto.
The archive photo shows the streetscape from over a century ago, when horse-drawn wagons and streetcars travelled along Yonge St. On the left, Samuel Cohen’s Shoe Repair can be seen, while a shop selling United Tires is visible on the right.
Several buildings from the vintage photo still exist today. Notably, the shoe repair shop was recently home to a noodle restaurant. A portion of the building that once displayed “The Canada Paint Co.” on the right remains standing. The Masonic Hall Buildings, recognizable by its tower in the centre background, is now known as Gloucester Mews.
