Looking southwest towards the corner of Yonge St and Wellington St W, in the Financial District of Toronto.
These buildings date back to the 19th century and are a rare example of the city’s early commercial architecture. When a large portion of downtown Toronto was destroyed by the Great Fire on April 19, 1904, including two-thirds of this block, these buildings survived. Their facades have been incorporated into BCE Place, today known as Brookfield Place, which was completed in the early 1990s.
