Looking northwest towards the corner of Yonge St and Grenville St, in the Downtown Yonge area of Toronto.
The archive photo captures some notable items, including when Yonge St had streetcar tracks. On the upper right side of the old image, there’s a wall visible of what was known then as Yonge Street Fire Hall No. 3. It’s the building with the “2 in 1 Shoe Polish” billboard on top. In more recent times, that building was known as the St Charles Tavern, and its clock tower is shown in the present-day photo archive photo.
