Looking northeast towards the corner of Yonge St and Front St in the St Lawrence neighbourhood of Toronto.
The archive photo shows the American Hotel, once at the corner from about 1844 until 1889. It was replaced by the former Board of Trade Building, which was demolished in 1958. The site later became a parking lot and, since 1982, has been home to a mirrored office building.
In the present-day photo, notice part of the Bank of Montreal Building in the left foreground, today home to the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Gooderham Building in the distance on the right.
