A few of the establishments in the archive photo, from right to left, include Robins Haberdashery, Tamblyn Drugs, Laura Secord Candy, Wiancko Bros Stationers & Circulating Library, WM Percy Optician, United Cigar Store and Imperial Bank of Canada. Today, this stretch of Yonge St in the foreground is the site of One Bloor, a 76-storey condo tower completed in 2017.
In the left background of the vintage photo, you can see a portion of the former Royal Bank of Canada building, which was located across Bloor St E. In the 1970s, this building was replaced by the current RBC branch, along with what was formerly known as the Hudson Bay Centre, as shown in the present-day photo.
