Looking southwest down Yonge St from Bloor St, in the Yorkville and Bay-Cloverhill neighbourhoods of Toronto.
The archive photo shows the streetscape over a century ago. The corner building was home to Frank Stollery’s gentlemen’s furnishings. The shop remained at that corner, although in a newer building, until 2014. Today, a skyscraper known as One Bloor West is under construction at the site.
Another structure to point out, visible in both photos, is the red-brick building with cream-coloured ornamentation. Known as the William Luke Buildings, they were built in the mid-1880s and have since been incorporated into the new development.
