Looking northeast towards the York St entrance of the Royal York Hotel from Front St W, in the Financial District of Toronto.
The hotel, completed in 1929, is an opulent Chateau-style building designed by the architectural firms Sproatt & Rolph from Toronto and Ross & Macdonald from Montreal. It opened as the Royal York Hotel and became the crown jewel among the hotels owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Since 2021, the hotel has been part of the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts chain.
