Looking east along Richmond St W from Peter St, in the Entertainment District of Toronto.
There is a gap of over 50 years between the two photos. A few notable features in the archive photo still exist today. These include the building in the foreground on the left, which housed the Business Furniture Company that sold new and used desks, chairs, and files. In the distance on the left, the building with the Eno’s Fruit Salt ghost sign. In the right distance, the building with the Gelber Bros. ghost sign, of which the sign has since been restored.
Lastly, midway down the street on the right are the Bay-and-Gable row houses at 269-277 Richmond St W, built in the mid-1880s. Notice the difference in the traffic pattern at the intersection.
