A few of the establishments in the archive photo from left to right include the Union Hotel, Broadway Theatre, Harry’s Men’s Shop, a bookstore, Lawrence Credit Jewellers, Lantern Cafe, and the Festival Cinema, previously known as the Casino Theatre and Civic Square Theatre. In 1965, this block, opposite Nathan Phillips Square, was demolished to make way for redevelopment.
Today, TD Bank, the Thomson Building and the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel occupy the block.
