Looking southwest towards the Palais Royale from Lake Shore Blvd W, at the foot of Roncesvalles Ave in Toronto’s Sunnyside neighbourhood.
Notice the sign for Bert Niosi and his Orchestra in the archive photo. Bert and his band played at the historic dance hall for 18 years.
Constructed between 1921 and 1922, the Palais Royale building is one of the last two surviving structures from the once-vibrant Sunnyside Amusement complex. The other remaining building is the Sunnyside Bathing Pavilion.
