The Logan Grill and Lumberking Home Improvement Centre ghost signs are located at 807 Gerrard St E (at Logan Ave, on the southwest corner) in the South Riverdale neighbourhood of Toronto.
On the east-facing wall of the building, there are two ghost signs, one painted over the other. The original sign reads “Logan Grill” and features a Coca-Cola logo. Records from the Toronto City Directory, covering the years 1941 to 1956, show that the restaurant operated from this storefront during that time. It was later called the Logan Restaurant for over 50 years and has more recently housed establishments such as Hamersmiths, the Saturday Dinette, and Alice Marie – Bakery & Coffee today.
Painted over the Logan Grill advertisement is the sign for “Lumberking Home Improvement Centre.” This sign includes an arrow directing customers to their former location at 449 Logan Ave. Lumberking sold building materials and hardware on Logan Ave from the late 1980s until the mid-1990s.
Along with the ghost signs, there’s also one of the city’s old metal blue and white street signs for Logan Ave affixed to the overhang.
