Toronto-born artist Joe Shuster, who co-created the comic book hero Superman with writer Jerry Siegel, drew inspiration for the Daily Planet—where Superman worked under the secret identity of Clark Kent—from the former Toronto Star Building. This building was located at 80 King St W and stood from 1929 until 1972.
