Looking northeast towards the corner of King St W and Simcoe St in the Entertainment District of Toronto.
The archive photo shows the British Hotel directly at the corner, at 208 King St W. According to the Toronto City Directory, the hotel was first listed in the 1864 publication and last recorded in 1909.
The old hotel was replaced by the Aladdin/King Simcoe Building around 1920. This building was subsequently demolished and replaced by a parking lot in 1972. Since 1985, the block has been occupied by a 25-storey office tower known as 200 King Street West.
