Looking southeast toward the Imperial Theatre, and today the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre at 263 Yonge St, located in the Downtown Yonge area of Toronto.
The theatre was constructed between 1919 and 1920 and was initially called the Pantages. It was one of Canada’s last combination vaudeville and movie theatres. After the Pantages Theatre collapsed in 1929, its new owners, Famous Players, renamed it the Imperial Theatre. The archive photo captures a time when “My Favorite Spy,” starring Bob Hope and Hedy Lamarr, was playing.
Over the years, the theatre has been known by various names, including the Imperial Six, and since 2011, it has been called the Ed Mirvish Theatre .
