The H. J. Lavelle ghost sign is located at 541-543 Queen St W (just west of Augusta St) in the Fashion District of Toronto.
On the upper west-facing wall of the beautiful four-storey building from the 19th century, there are two ghost signs. The most prominent one reads, “H. J. Lavelle Wines,” while below it, there is a logo for “Delicious Refreshing Coca-Cola.” Mr. Lavelle operated a liquor store at this address, as noted in the Toronto City Directory from 1915 to 1917. For the other ghost sign, only the letters “PR” are visible, to the left of “Coca-Cola.”
