Looking southeast towards the corner of Shuter St and Church St in the Garden District of Toronto.
The archive photo showcases the former Elliott House, which was later renamed the Carson Hotel. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1961, and the site eventually became a parking lot. Today, that corner is occupied by a mixed-use building.
