Dufferin Hotel – Once at Bloor St W & Dufferin St

The Dufferin Hotel was once located at 1130 Bloor St W (at Dufferin St on the northwest corner) in the Bloordale Village neighbourhood of Toronto.

The Toronto City Directory has the hotel first listed in the 1889 publication and last recorded in 1907. Angus Kerr owned the hotel, also known as the Dufferin House. In 1905, the hotel lost its liquor license due to a lack of accommodation and opposition from the area’s residents.

By the 1930s, the site of the hotel had become a service station, and today, the corner is occupied by the Dufferin Subway Station and Dovercourt Baptist Church.
