Circle Theatre was once located at 2567 Yonge St (between Sherwood Ave and Sheldrake Blvd on the east side) in Toronto’s Lawrence Park South neighbourhood.
Built in 1933, architect Eric Hounsom, while working for the architectural firm Kaplan & Sprachman, designed the theatre in the Art Deco style. Mr Hounsom was also the architect of the University Theatre on Bloor St W.
Circle Theatre opened its doors in 1933. When the theatre closed in the late 1950s, the building became home to Homestead Plumbing Warehouse. The building was torn down, and today, there is an apartment building on the site.
