The archive photo, taken from inside Coles Bookstore, once located in the Robert Barron Building, looks out towards Cinecity Cinema with Vincent & Tony beauty salon in the background on the right. The theatre opened in 1967 and was Toronto’s first-run “art house” outlet for underground, experimental and avant-garde Canadian, American, and foreign films.
In contrast, the present-day photo, taken from the same location, which is home to a Shoppers Drug Mart.
