Looking southeast along Avenue Rd from Davenport Rd in the Yorkville neighbourhood of Toronto.
The archival photograph captures the Picken’s Esso Service Station in the left foreground, with the steeple of St Paul’s Methodist Church in the background. This church, constructed in 1886/87 and designed by renowned architects Smith & Gemmell, was demolished in 1995.
Apart from the four-row houses visible in the distant right, the streetscape has undergone a significant transformation.
