American Hotel circa 1888 & 2022

The American Hotel stood on the northeast corner of Yonge St and Front St E in downtown Toronto from about 1844 until 1889. It was replaced by the former Board of Trade Building, which was demolished in 1958. The site later became a parking lot and, since 1982, has been home to a mirrored office building. In the present-day photo, notice the Hockey Hall of Fame on the left and the Gooderham Building in the distance on the right.
