Looking northeast towards 10-12 Isabella St, just east of Yonge St, in the Church-Wellesley neighbourhood of Toronto.
The archive photo shows the building when it was home to Ivan’s hair salon, which served both men and women. Since 1979, the location has been The Artful Dodger Pub.
The pair of 2.5-storey semi-detached houses, built in 1879, were designed in the Second Empire style. They were originally occupied by Alex Williamson, a commercial traveller, and John Selby, who ran a grocery store a few blocks south on Yonge St. In 2023, the building was added to the city’s heritage register as part of the Historic Yonge Street Heritage Conservation District.
